Last year I heard and read the story of Anna Delvey, a con woman, who caused so much damage to the US-social scene. When I read that Netflix would make a mini series about her and her story and how that unfolded. I was very excited to watch it.
On February 11th 2022, Netflix released the mini series along with its nine-episodes.
I was very curious about how she did it and what happened at the end. So I literally binge-watch all nine episodes in two days.
I’m still kinda in awe of how Anna did it and didn’t almost get caught.
Anna pretend to be a German rich girl but was Russian and fooled bankers and very rich people over the course of a couple of years.
Onto what I liked about this series, was the fact that how it was told and how it was shot and how the characters were introduced to us, the audience.
Also how the emotions of those characters were portrayed as well.
I also really liked the flashbacks in between episodes.
Onto the cast: Julia Garner as Anna, I was very impressed by her performance. Anna Chlumsky as Vivian, the reporter. Katie Lewis as Rachel, a friend, which was scammed by Anna.
So, Vivian Kent, the ex- Vanity Fair, journalist, who wrote an article about Anna and how she scammed her and bankers and other people.
Onto what I didn’t like , my biggest issue was the pace of certain scenes and the blurred lines between really and fiction like I had a lot of trouble with differentiating those two.
As a true crime fan, I really liked this series because every episode was different like from how she started her criminal activities and began scamming people, to how she got caught and how the investigative process began and ended. Without spoiling anything. I highly recommend this tv-series for its uniqueness and if you like true-crime series.
The ending was okay in my opinion but it really does make you question wether Anna was a scammer or just someone who just wanted to belong in this cruel world.
