When I heard that Jared Leto and Anne Hatherway would be starring in a tv show together, I screamed because both are my absolute favorite actors/actresses.
So I had to check it out! This is an Apple TV+ biological Drama series. It was released on March 18th 2022. It starrs Jared Leto, Anne Hathaway, Kyle Marvin, Robert E. Lunney, Steven Boyer just to name a few. I binge-watched all three episodes, which were released on March 18th 2022. Every Friday, a brand new episode is released. It has nine episodes in his first season in total.
On to the premise: The greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.
I really liked Jared Leto like he did a voice thing where he was combining his role in “House of Gucci” and a bit of “the Joker” of “2016’s Suicide Squad”. I really liked that aspect. I also liked Anne Hathaway’s performance, especially in episode three, without mentioning anything…
I also liked the self-confidence of Leto and Hathaway in this series because it is literally inspiring to become THAT self confident..
The first three episodes are great because we see how the beginning stages of an startup called “WeWork” and its challenges with an undertone of upbeat music choices, such as Katy Perry’s “Fireworks” and awesome and often very amusing monologues, especially from Lego’s character. The performances are excellent and the story is interesting and intriguing. Like I couldn’t get enough of the first three episodes.
However it is a little bit disturbing how they idolize Leto’s and Hathaway’s characters, as if they are mocking cult leaders by running a cult- like – working environment for their workers. That is topped with a summer camp for the employees of “WeWork” in episode three.
Despite this show being advertised as a satirical look at the narcissistic founders of WeWork. In my opinion this show does point that out from time to time.
The pacing is rather slow at times, which feels like the snow-runners wanted to fill the time with too many pointless subplots and they are stretching out the story to get to 8 more episodes.
Overall I really liked it, it’s filmography is so so good! Despite the slow-pacing. It’s almost, dare I say it, kinda hypnotizing. The narrative flows are beautiful despite the flashbacks, it’s mainly focused on Leto and Hathaway without adding too much noise from the side-characters wise.
The next episode will be released on April 1st 2022
