A couple of days ago, I finally were able to watch Sony’s newest Thriller/Actio/Anti-superhero, “Morbius”, starring Jared Leto (House of Gucci), Tyrese Gibson (Fast and Furious), Matt Smith (Last Night in Soho), Adria Arjona, Michael Keaton (Dopesick) and Joe Ferrera ( Love and Other Stuff), just to name a few. The movie was directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life). It has a runtime of 1h and 44 minutes, you should definitely wait for the mid-and post-credits-scenes! it was written by Matt Samaza (Lost in Space) and Burk Sharpless (Power Rangers). The movie is rated PG-13.
Onto the premise: Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
As a Marvel and DC fan, I have to say, that this movie was a little bit disappointing because of its weak scenario, the movie being cut too many times, it’s logic loops, loved the horror elements, the CGI-was terrible! The movie gave me a twilight feeling, even tho I loved Jared and Tyrese in this movie. During the first act of the movie: all the events happened too fast that I had trouble with following everything.
The soundtrack was okay. The camera angles were good, especially during the movie’s third act. The cast did a great job and I am even more excited about the upcoming marvel movies , you will knowC what I’m talking about if you watch the mid-and post-credits scenes…. One word…. The number 6 will be very noticeable for comic book fans….
However the movie was entertaining kinda sad that all the Spider-Man references were cut out of it. I had to jiggle too many times due to Jared’s lines.
I have to agree with so many people on the movies missed opportunity, this movie could’ve been so so so much more great! It feels very rushed even tho it had been postponed for so many times.
Maybe another hour of character development would’ve been better for the movie.
Overall I really really liked this movie. Therefore it is “worth a watch”.
