As a long time comic book fan, I was even more excited about the release of DC’s “The Batman” movie, which is a complete stand alone of the previous, as I like to call them “Nolan-movies”. Therefore my hopes and hype were out of this world! After watching the trailer too many times last year, my excitement went through the roof when we got closer and closer to the release date of March 3th 2022.
This movie has a runtime of 3hs. It was directed by Matt Reaves (Planet of the Apes) and was written by Matt Reaves. It starrs Zoe Kravitz, Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright (Rick and Morty), Collin Farrell (Dumbo) and Paul Dano (Netflix’s The Guilty, the remake of 2021) just to name a few..
Onto the premise: When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city’s hidden corruption and question his family’s involvement.
It’s been a while since I watched a movie with a runtime of almost three hours, but in my opinion those three hours were necessary for the storyline and the twists and turns.
I have to admit that I raised an eyebrow when I read that Robert Pattinson was casted for this movie. Even tho I liked his role in Netflix’s “The Devil of All Time” and was very impressed by his performance in that one, he did impress me with this role as well. Dare I say that he was the best Batman, after Ben Affleck, of course?! Yes, I do dare!
Same goes for “The Riddler”, Paul Dano. I would’ve preferred a cameo of “Hawkeeye”’s Kingpin, Vincent Donofrio, but I was on board with the other cameos in “The Batman”, without spoilers…
Pattinson was awesome! Looking forward to seeing more of his version of Batman in the near future.
This movie blew my mind! With its score, tone, atmosphere, the well execution of darkness and shadows, the visuals and Sfx. . I might’ve fallen in love with Catwoman and Zoe Kravitz all over again!
Loved the faced paceness, darkness (story wise), maturity, gore and brutality. Especially when it came to the Riddler’s torturous behavior.
I really liked the camera angles and a couple of lines made me giggle a few times. Liked the chemistry between Zoe and Robert. Liked the investigative part of this movie.
This movie really did bring a freshness to this franchise, which I’m a fan of. Especially if you are not a superhero fan, you will still enjoy this movie.
The message that this movie wanted to convey across to the audience was too close to home to me, personally.
Andy Serkis was prolly one of my favorite characters but when isn’t he great in a movie?!
The visuals and action but the darkness really really left my jaw on the floor! You should definitely stay until the credits because I wasn’t expecting that but I’m so excited for the upcoming movies. I really liked that despite of its length, you don’t really feel like it, I really really appreciated that aspect of “The Batman” . Therefore kudos to Matt Reaves, whom I have been a fan of since his “Planet of the Apes” franchise.
I really liked it that despite its PG-13 rating, there is still violence and GORE, thanks to The Riddler! That was THEE one concern I had about this movie. I have to once again applaud the cast, especially Collin Farrell, I almost forgot about him, I thought Jared Leto’s transformation into Paulo Gucci, was mind looking, nah, it was actually Farrell’s transformation, which was even more unrecognizable than Leto’s.
Darkness and shadows were a greater touch to the overall anxious and dark atmosphere, keep an eye out in them…. YOU might find something in them….. or should I say someone… *WINKS*!
I loved the Arkham City Batman game-esque action sequences. Those were a fiesta for all fan boys and girls in my opinion.
However I do have to say that I liked the “The Dark Knight” trilogy a bit more but that’s prolly because of Bane and Joker. Speaking of the Joker, I really liked this version of the Joker as well, but nothing could dethrone tHEE late Heathe Ledger!!
Overall I have to say, that I really, really enjoyed this movie, DESPITE it’s runtime! I The wait was definitely worth it! Therefore DC’s “The Batman” was “WORTH” a watch! Can’t wait to re-watch it next week! Just WOW!
