It’s finally here! Marvel’s newest mini series “Ms Marvel” was released on June 8th 2022. Ig will consist of six episodes. The series starrs Iman Vellani, Matt Lintz, Alysia Reiner, Laurel Marsden, just to name a few. It was directed by Meera Menon (Netflix’s “You”). It was written by Bisha K. Ali (2021’s Loki). It’s an Action/Adventure/Comedy tv mini series, which you can watch on Disney Plus.
Onto the premise: New Jersey raised Kamala Khan learns she has polymorphous powers.
In episode one, Kamala Khan attends Avengercon only to discover that she herself might have superpowers.
The first episode showed us a unique approach to letting us film as if we are watching a coming of age movie. Which I really liked.
I am well aware that this is a kids show but I really liked Iman’s performance. Even if it’s so obvious that it’s a kid show. I habe to admit that I kinda relaxed to her , when it came to her family dynamic.
However, there a few moments which were cringe to me. But the VFX looked great. I am looking forward to episode two because episode one felt very rushed to me. I really liked the animated opening scene with a recap of “Avengers Endgame”.
I really liked that Marvel keep being more inclusive and inclusive with their lead roles like in Ms Marvel’s case, it’s a Pakistani girl. I really liked it and the references to her background were very interesting to me as a non-Pakistani viewer.
All the actors were so good in this show and I cannot wait to watch more of it tomorrow, June 15th 2022.
Also the fact that Marvel crowned this show as the most watched episode in its first week of being released, makes me even more excited!
In episode two, Kamala and Bruno explore the source of her newfound powers just in time for a perilous adventure.
This was another enjoyable episode, really liked the opening scene with the 90s flair and music, it brought me back to my childhood. Character wise, I really liked that Nakko had a bigger role than in the previous episode because she was overshadowed by Bruno.
I really liked that it was far away from the comics because that gives the show a chance to do something different.
I loved how certain scenes were animated, like the one scene after Iman’s dancing in her room, without spoilering anything.
I have to say that Iman really NEEDS to focus on her power more than on boys, but that’s coming from an adult who’s watching this show, which is clearly targeted at younger audiences. That’s just me, i guess.
Like I said the vfx were too beautiful! You know by now that I love me some good visuals! I liked the color grading choices and the scoring.
I have to say that I’m still optimistic about us being able to see more Ms. Marvel heroic action in the upcoming episodes! But so far, so good.
Iman’s smile is infectious and I love it! I will definitely continue on following her after the end of this show! I’m a fan!
The FaceTime scene with her grandma was too funny and relatable to me. Haha!
Some jokes made by the family were too funny and some were an eye roll for me. I do have to say this, I really struggle with the length of the episodes and some viewers with epilepsy might feel triggered by all the Neon, so be careful while watching this show.
in episode three, ahead of Aamir’s wedding, Kamala may face grave consequences due to a crucial decision she makes.
This episode was the best one so far, because it gave us, why Iman got her power and where those rings came from, some of my theses of her relatives came true like that her family not wanting her to talk to her granma about her braclet.
Even tho I really liked this episode, I have to admit that there were definitely some weird things happening in this episode that made it hard to enjoy as much as the first two.
This whole Djinn/Clandestine thing kinda came out of nowhere with a really sudden backstory scene and a confusing lack of context on their abilities and origin. In my opinion that whole rhing was believable because given the religious aspect of this mini-series.
My biggest problem with this episode were the fight sequences because the show made those fight scenes weird because we don’t really know what they’re capable of., but i certain that we will get an explanation about their sudden shift from nice to selfish and invasive was also super off-putting.
The blue arm was such an aggravating Kree tease as it probably won’t go anywhere.
I thought I had gotten over the absence of the Inhuman origin, but the so far lackluster replacement makes me wish it was present.
It’s also weird how they’re making Damage Control out to be racists when they treated Spider-Man, a famous white male, similarly, in “No Way Home”.
Other than that, the rest was fun but didn’t further the plot much at all. I do like Kamala having self doubts about being a hero even thought it’s what she wanted. That aspect added more emotion into the story and sereis in generall.
They did an amazing job of changing this from the comics, while also doing it well and keeping it believable. I am so excited to see where this goes- and is there is any connection to the Ten Rings.
I really loved the mix of culture and action of this episode. Iman Vellani keeps stealing the show, I think she’s a better Kamala than Kamala herself.
And I really like that they continue expanding the multiverse. Also, for the people that say that they don’t empathize with any character, I totally connect with Kamala’s brother, whom I loved in Amazon Prime`s “The Boys”. There’s a fire alarm but the poor guy worries about the money that might get lost haha.
There were some good action scenes at the end. Even the Bollywood inspired wedding sequence was fun.
Ms Marvel still shares a lot with Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. Someone initially overwhelmed with their powers.
In episode four, Kamala and Muneeba travel to Karachi, and Kamala finds out more about the origin of her powers. She also finds out about the Red Daggers, a secret group that protects the world from the Clandestine who want the bangle for their own so they can wipe out the Earth reality with their own.
The action and cgi isn’t good the way it’s filmed is week and poor. The acting is great and the culture is fun but the story just feels messy. The camera work feels sloppy and the quirkiness from the last three episodes seems to have faded. The clandestine feels shoehorned in and whilst I was open to the change in powers and enjoyed it at first I dont know how I feel about it now. The cgi isn’t great on the powers and it feels they aren’t well utilised the power change makes less and less sense.
This blows all the other shows aside. Hawkeye was decently fun and Moon Knight had its moments, but none of those or the other unmentionable turds can match the brilliance of Ms Marvel.
The dialogue in this show is fantastic, the acting the best on TV, and the directing and sets are beautiful and lovely. A couple of CGi misses and perhaps less action that some would like, but this is in almost every aspect a great TV show.
This episode develops the story, the characters and we are given both historical facts and more development of the mystery as well as get to learn more great characters.
This is probably the best thing on TV currently and if you have not seen it you should. And ignore all the fake reviews. This is at minimum a 7/10 show and anyone stating different have simply not seen it.
Ms Marvel is hugely entertaining regardless how much it sticks to comic lore or not. The specificity of the characters and their surroundings and culture is what makes this show rise above your general knock about action story.
Imam Vellani is superb and it’s hard to believe this was her first acting role.
Hoping this continues to deliver over the next few episodes and then on into “The Marvels”.
The train station part shattered my heart into pieces, I cried so much afterwards.
It was almost like an anthology episode, minus the action of Iman.
Loved everything about this and the cinematography. The dynamic between characters, the internal struggle, the music.
Did you know? During the fight at the train station Kamala says “How do you know I’m not Canadian?” The actress was raised in Canada after being born in Pakistan.
Here was this one particular fight scenes which reminded me of “Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness”.
In episode five, The bangle reveals to Kamala secrets about her family lineage, as well as the truth behind the Veil.
Every episode is full of surprises. You can never tell what’s coming next which I absolutely love about any movie and/or tv show and ms marvel is full of it. New characters coming into play. Overall very balanced episode with a lot of story unfolding and some new questions popping up. Can’t wait for the season finale
I love Red Dagger guy and Iman so much.
I couldn’t believe how it ended because I was so hooked on this episode but I’m even more excited about the season finale of “Ms Marvel”.
In episode six, season finale, Back in Jersey, Kamala finds Kamran and protects him from Damage Control who will stop at nothing to take him in.
The last 2 episodes were decent, but felt rushed and as if they were heading towards a mediocre finale. But this exceeded my expectations. And the end credit scene! WOW! So confused. I have no idea what happened. But a good cliffhanger! Can’t wait for next July to find out! This was truly amazing.
I think this was one of my favorite Eps, cause it’s look super colorful I love some of the visual effects , and there’s more action than the other eps. But my favorite about this Eps was the credit scene it was super make shocked, I really can’t wait for “The Marvels”.
I screamed when I saw THAT post-credit’s scene.
The finale itself felt so much like a return to the show it started as. Kamala in Jersey doing things with her friends, and this time she is a hero. All the interactions between characters were fun, the graphics came back to the animated style of the beginning, and ultimately I didn’t mind the DOCD. Basic antagonistic force, but it’s season 1. She’s not gonna be facing down a Thanos, or even a Green Goblin level threat yet.
I do feel like the Karachi portion of the series should have been saved for a season 2, so overall the season felt like two very different things. But this finale made me smile, and I’m happy to finally see Kamala in her full Ms. Marvel outfit, and off on whatever adventure that post-credits scene teased.
Overall I really enjoyed this spin-off series and can’t wait for “The Marvel’s” next year.
