Here’s another movie review. I normally don’t watch horror movies but when it comes to A24, same with Jordan Peele, I just have to watch those movies from Peele and Thus company “A24” because those movies are very unique in their own ways.
This movie is a Thriller/Comedy/Horror and was directed by Halina Reijn. It starrs Pete Davidson, Amanda Stenberg (“Hunger Games”), Maria Bakalova (“Borat”), Rachel Sennott (2021’s “Shiva Baby”), Lee Pace (Marvel’s “Hawkeye”), just to name a few. This movie has a runtime of 1h 36 minutes.
Onto the premise: When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.
This move is rated R for violence, gore, blood, drug usage, sexual references and language.
It’s a fun movie in a whodunnit style and literally inspired by Among Us. Rachel Sennott stands above the rest. Her comedy skills are undenible. Although, I couldn’t help but feel at certain moments that this movie was only made to be meme’d, gif’ed and tweeted about. However, my biggest dissapointment is the predictable ending which I guessed in the very beginning. I wish there was more suspense and tension.
The film is essentially “Lord of the Flies” with “Zoomers” and Lee Pace.
The cast really carry the story and help build on the suspense, but as it progresses, everything becomes more obvious and predictable. While I wouldn’t call it the film of the summer, this may definitely be one to consider for a sleepover thriller with some friends and glow sticks!
I really liked the neon elements of this movie.
I had quite high expectations for this one, deceived by the good reviews from critics. But the movie turned out to be okayish. It’s nothing groundbreaking, it’s not something we haven’t seen before…
The big twist. Oh boy it felt flat to me. I don’t get why all the hype is. I am kinda sad but it’s okay for a Friday night popcorn flick.
It is okay but I still liked it. Like I said it was good for some popcorn on a Friday night. Therefore it was “kinda worth a watch”.
Did you know? The name of the movie and the game played in the movie are based on a commonly played Improv Game called Body Body (or Murder In The Dark) where players run around in a dark room while the murderer “kills” players by tapping them, hoping to get away with killing the entire group.
