Is “One Way” worth a watch?

By now, you know how much of a huge fan I am of Machine Gun Kelly, and how excited I have been for this movie to be released! Well after watching the first two episodes of Amazon Prime’s “Rings Of Power”, I watched “One Way” and imma tell you if my hype was worth it or not!

This movie was released on September 2nd 2022 in the US and will be released on December 16th 2022 in Europe (Yes, the same day as the second installment of “Avatar” by James Cameron.). This movie has a runtime of 1h and 36 minutes. It was rated R for violence, drug usage, language and graphic content.

This movie was directed by Andrew Baird (2021’s “Zone 414”) and written by Ben Conway. This movie is an Action/Thriller. It starrs Colson Baker (musician Machine Gun Kelly), Kevin Bacon, Travis Fimmel (Netflix’s “The Vikings”), Storm Reid (HBO Max’s “Euphoria”) and Drea De Matteo (The Sopranos) and Colson’s real-life daughter Casie Colson Baker, just to name a few.

This movie was produced by Saban Films and executively produced by actors Colson Baker, Travis Fimmel, Luis “Trikz” Da Silva Jr.

Onto the premise: FREDDY, a petty criminal , is on the run with a bag full of cash and coke. He’s way over his head and hurt bad. With a bullet in his guts he’s running out of time. FAST.

I don’t know where to start and how to convey my feelings about this movie properly because it’s a ride of emotions and I’m still coming down from my adrenaline rush, which was caused by this movie….

Anyways let’s continue with this review… I’m speechless right now because the movie was better than I had anticipated, I’m not being biased because I’m a fan of the lead character!

We go on a journey with our lead character, Colson. But before that in the opening scene we get to see the actors and actresses, well their faces and their names, in a way, I have never seen in a movie, that aspect was great touch to the overall fast-paced, most of the time dark movie, but that’s because of the color-grading, which I will be talking about in a minute.

So the color grading in this movie was unusual for a Thriller/Action movie but I still really liked the neon light usage because that aspect created a very anxious yet intriguing atmosphere. This movie was very entertaining and engaging, there were a couple of funny moments from Colson and Storm, I really liked their dynamic in this movie.

Another thing I liked was how Baird thought of a certain character, who was involved with Colson, like I wasn’t expecting that but I really liked that choice of Baird without spoilering anything for you guys.

Huge shoutout to the camera guy and to the editors of this movie because how they edited a certain scene with Baker on that bus with the usual of neon lights, I hadn’t seen anything like that in a long long time!

Honestly, Casie did SO good like it was her first movie and she was amazing. As for Storm, she gave me major Euphoria vibes, which I liked. As for Travis, my jaw was dropped to the floor when we , the audience, learned that he in fact was a certain person, when Colson’s character revealed that to us.

As for the directorial choices, I really enjoyed all of those choices.

I really liked how certain subjects where a part of this movie such as Drug abuse, sexual assault and many more! Therefore I would have to give a HUGE trigger warning for those subjects that were a part of this movie. Be cautious while watching this movie.

I’m still speechless like the twists, Colson’s performances.

I did cry during his scene with his daughter Casie , that scene broke my heart in the third act.

The acts of this movie were in general, beginning slow but that changed in the second and third act. The ending had be speechless and I did hold my breath during the scene towards the end of the movie…

Overall this movie was SO good and I have a few favorites, character wise. Colson’s performance was hard to watch , especially when he was in pain like I couldn’t stop crying.

One thing want to say, is that the wait for this movie to come out was definitely worth . Like, Wow, I’m still in awe of all the characters, like Storm and Colson’s performances.

It was such a cool thing to see Colson Baker in a lead role again after 2021’s “The Last Son” but in a genre he hadn’t stepped foot into it yet. He did amazing, even though his scenes made me cry and feel all his emotions and pain, physically.

As for the directorial choices, I really enjoyed all of those choices.

One thing I really liked about this movie was that Colson could really show the world his acting skills, WITHOUT an any acting education from a prestigious acting school, because we fans, already knew about his acting skills!

Therefore Saban Films’ “One Way” was “worth a watch” and I would recommend it to you even if you don’t like Machine Gun Kelly, there other great actors and actresses in this movie so give it a chance.

Did you know?

This is the second film in a row that Travis Fimmel and director, Andrew Baird are collaborating on.
