Is DC’s “The Silent Twins” worth a watch?

When I found out that this beloved comic book would get an adaptation, I was very excited.

This movie is a Drama and was released on September 16th 2022.

This movie starrs Letitia Wright (“Sing 2”), Jodhi May (Netflix’s “The Witcher”), Jack Bandeira (“Venom: Let There Be Carnage”), Nadine Marshall (“Paddington 2”), just to name a few!

This movie was directed by Agnieszka Smoczynska (Netflix’s “Warrior Nun”). This movie was rated R for drug use, sexual content, language, nudity and disturbing imagery.

Onto the premise: Based on the lives of June and Jennifer Gibbons, real-life identical twins who grew up in Wales and became known as “the silent twins” because of their refusal to communicate with anyone other than each other.Based on the lives of June and Jennifer Gibbons, real-life identical twins who grew up in Wales, part of the only Black family in a small town. The two became known as “the silent twins” because of their refusal to communicate with anyone other than each other. They developed their own language and became catatonic when separated. The story takes place after a spree of vandalism inspired by an American boy they both idolize, when the girls, now teenagers, are sentenced to Broadmoor, an infamous psychiatric hospital, where they face the choice to separate and survive or die together.

The acting is great, I think everyone gives strong performances, no weak links here, also the cinematography is great, some really nice shots and coloring, kudos to the technical team, unfortunately what good is all of this if the story isn’t compelling enough, the problem is these sisters just aren’t that interesting, simple as that, or maybe they are, but the writing oddly made this film one dimensional and linear with its plot. We fail to connect with the characters ultimately, and the movie just plods along. Honestly the Wikipedia entry is more interesting haha!

Stay tuned for more reviews.
