Is Netflix’s “Luckiest Girl Alive” worth a watch?

This movie was another highly anticipated one for me.

It starrs Mila Kunis,, Finn Wittrock (“Deep Water”), Connie Britton (“Bombshell”), Scoot McNairy (Netflix’s “Blonde”), Alex Barone (“Dopesick”), just to name a few.

This movie was directed by Mike Barker (Netflix “The Sandman”) and (Hulu’s “The Handmaids Tale”).

This movie is a Drama/Thriller/Mystery and was released on October 7th 2022.

This movie was rated R for violence, rape, sexual material, language and drug abuse.

Onto the premise: A Sharp-Tongued New Yorker who appears to have it all: a sought-after position at a glossy magazine, a killer wardrobe, and a dream Nantucket wedding on the horizon. But when the director of a crime documentary invites her to tell her side of the shocking incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Brentley School, Ani is forced to confront a dark truth that threatens to unravel her meticulously crafted life.

I think it’s not a secret that I am a huge fan of Mila. Therefore this movie was amazing, her performance cut deep into my soul because it’s sadly what most of us, women go through and her performance really conveyed those emotions, which are the aftermath s of her high school incidents.

This movie has a very touching subject and I can’t express how many trigger warnings worth mention I should give out before you decide to watch this movie. I will be talking about this movie in detail on this week’s podcast episode but I do want to say the subject matter was treated carefully in this Lionsgate film, which I am highly appreciative of..

This movie really has the power to change the perception of people on sexual abuse and the use of alcohol.

It shows the effect of societal pressure that we all experience daily, starting from very early ages, on a woman’s life and decisions. It also shows the struggle one goes through between wanting to build a peaceful, stable life and wanting to bring justice to the ones that have hurt you, that have violated your rights at the expense of ruining your reputation.

That struggle, is unfortunately very real for most of us living in societies where we are usually only supported when acted in expected ways and when talked about pleasant subjects rather than pointing out the real problems of society and reality voicing our opinions on certain topics In a society.

It is not only women that experience this pressure but it must have been the same for a lot of men as well.

These are the kind of projects, like 2019’s “Bombshell”, we need to change today’s society for the better.

Well done to everyone, your service is appreciated. I am once again applauding the filmmakers and writers and actors for once again shining light onto a very touchy subject a sad one, at least for the majority of us, women. This movie was “definitely worth the wait and the high anticipation and definitely worth a watch”) but with a BIG caution that would most likely affect many women in a negative way! Also I didn’t know that this was a book adaptation. The good kinds.
