This series was another highly anticipated one for me.
This Netflix series is about the creation story of the music streaming platform “Spotify”. This series starrs Christian Hillborg (“The Beta Test”), Severija Janusauskaite (“Babylon Berlin”), just to name a few.
This series was directed by Per-Olav Sørensen (Netflix’s “Quicksand”).
This series was released on October 13th 2022. It is a Mimi-series with six episodes.
Onto the premise: At the height of piracy, established heavy-hitters were fighting against where the turbulent music industry was heading. The series centers around young Swedish tech entrepreneur, Daniel Ek, and his partner Martin Lorentzon, who revolutionized a whole industry by offering free and legal streamed music around the world. It is a story about how hard convictions, unrelenting will, access and big dreams can help small players challenge the status quo by evolving the way we can all listen to music.
This seizes is a Biography/Drama.
Overall, I enjoyed this mini series of “Spooky “.
The acting, the cinematography and the flow of the story is authentic and genuine. I do not know if this is completely true to the reality story, but it is very interesting and intriguing for sure. My favorite episode was definitely the 2nd episode because it was epic, the acting and the conflict between cultures, portrayed genuinely. “Heisenberg” looking guy won me over!
Also in the 2nd episodes and i really liked that we, the audience got the story told with 2 perspectives of the story with it moving forward.
I really liked this series, like it was a nice take on the origins of streaming site Spotify! With a good script, wonderful execution, well balanced approach and perfect a really good cast. It doesn’t exactly say how much is truth and how much is fictionalized to spice it up or bland it down, but I would highly recommend this series to you to watch!
The Vision, The Industry, The Law, The Coder, The Partner and finally The Artist (the names of the episodes) … every episode is better than the previous one!
Stay tuned for more reviews!
