Is Netflix’s “The School for Good and Evil” worth a watch?

This movie was another highly anticipated one for me.

This movie starrs Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett, Liam Woon (“Bridgerton”), Rachel Bloom (“ICarly”), Rob Delaney (“The Good House”), Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix”), and Kerry Washington just to name a few.

This movie was directed by Paul Feig (“Minc”).

This movie is a Drama/Action/Fantasy

This movie was released on October 19th 2022 on Netflix. It was rated PG-13 for violence and action and some frightening imagery.

This movie was a book adaptation of the book “School for Good and Evil” by Soman Chainani.

Onto the premise: In the village of Gavaldon, two misfits and best friends, Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie), share the unlikeliest of bonds. Sophie, a golden-haired seamstress, dreams of escaping her dreary life to become a princess, while Agatha, with her grim aesthetic and offbeat mother, has the makings of a real witch. One night under a blood red moon, a powerful force sweeps them away to the School for Good and Evil – where the true stories behind every great fairy tale begin. Yet something is amiss from the start: Sophie is dropped into the School for Evil, run by the glamorous and acid-tongued Lady Lesso (Charlize Theron), and Agatha in the School for Good, overseen by the sunny and kind Professor Dovey (Kerry Washington). As if navigating classes with the offspring of the Wicked Witch (Freya Parks), Captain Hook (Earl Cave), and King Arthur (Jamie Flatters) wasn’t hard enough, according to the Schoolmaster (Laurence Fishburne), only true love’s kiss can change the rules and send the girls to their rightful schools and destiny. But when a dark and dangerous figure (Kit Young) with mysterious ties to Sophie reemerges and threatens to destroy the school and the world beyond entirely – the only way to a happy ending is to survive their real life fairytale first. According to Netflix.

This movie reminded me so much of “Harry Potter”.

I really enjoyed the camera angles and I loved Theron’s performance as the Evil school’s principal.

I really liked the tattoo idea in the first act of the movie.

I loved the third act because of the cool fight scenes and loved the score of this movie from Billie Eiliah to queen Britney Spears. Wow! Loved loved the costumes and choreographies of the fight scenes and overall.

Overall I really really enjoyed this movie even tho it had some bad CGI-effects… nevertheless I loved Sophia as Sophie and both Kerry Washington and Charliz Theron. Overall the entire cast were superb in this movie, especially Morpheus aka Laurence Fishburne. I loved the set design and practical effects and the color grading, especially with the “evill side. Like I said, this movie was a mix of “Harry Potter” meets “Winx Club” meets “Lucifer”. This movie was definitely “worth a watch “ and the wait!
