You guys know what a huge Machine Gun Kelly fan I’m by now, therefore I was even more excited about his latest movie, when I watched the trailer for “Taurus” last month.
This movie was another highly anticipated one for me because he won three awards in the month of October for it and the movie has been debuting at multiple film festivals around the world.
This movie starrs Colson Baker aka musician Machine Gun Kelly, Ruby Rose, Naomi Wild also a Musician, Luis Da Silva (“One Way”), Maddie Hasson, Scoot McNairy (Netflix’s “Blonde”), just to name a few
This movie was directed by Tim Sutton (“The Last Son”), it was also written by Tim Sutton and Colson Baker.
This movie was executive produced by Colson Baker and he also did the score of the movie.
This movie was released on November 18th 2022 in theaters and on Demand. It was rated R for violence, substance use and language and Sex/Nudity and Frightening imagery.
Onto the premise: A rising but troubled musician searches for the inspiration to record his next song, pushing himself deep into the void. A work of fiction that explores fame, addiction, the artistic process, and the music industry, Taurus is a soulful and universal cautionary tale.
This movie is a Biography/Drama/Music.
Very dark and gritty film. It dances on the line of fact and fiction for Colson’s life. There is an element of the film that is introduced in the beginning, is later addressed in the film, but I think that Sutton could have tied it in with Colson’s character to make a deeper impact on the movie.
Overall it is a good movie but it could have had some tweaks made to it, in order for it to be a better movie but no movie is perfect! Nevertheless I’m indescribably proud of Colson for being this vulnerable to the word and his fans, even though we’ve known much of his life, Because as a longtime fan of him, I can imagine how difficult that has been for him. I do now get why the film industry has been praising him for his role and why he won all these awards at all these different festivals!
It was nice to see him in such an adult role and like I said, as a fan of him, I can see the similarities between this movie and his actual life but I really liked that this movie really showed that this man really does eat and breathe music and lives for his craft. I hope that the people who’ve been hating on him for so so so many years, give this movie a chance and try to understand where he’s coming from.
I’m so so so proud of him for really opening up to us , his fans, even though we knew most of it, but really opening up to the word and being this vulnerable to all of us, he had never been! I know that it took him a lot of strength and courage to do so, I’m even prouder of him for that!
This movie gave me a somewhat documentary feel to the story of a musician who is high on his horse but struggles internally.
It must be mentioned that the final shot of the film is one of the most excellently filmed scenes ever as it is visually beautiful and visceral.
This movie may seem like a fictional look at the music industry but shows fame does have its price. Colson Baker gives an Oscar-worthy performance as a modern-day Mozart as we see him on both sides of the spectrum. This is a drama definitely worth watching. And for that I’m indescribably proud of him!
