This movie was another highly anticipated one for me ever since I saw its trailers and featurettes sometime back in October, this year!
This movie starrs Jennifer Lawrence, Brian Tyree Henry (“Bullet Train”), Linda Emond (“Succession”), Jayne Houdyshell (“Only Murderers In The Building”), Han Soto (Netflix’s “Cobra Kai”), Will Pullen (Apple Tv+’ “Dickinson”), just to name a few.
This movie was directed by Lila Neugebauer (“Maid”).
This movie was released on November 4th 2022 on Apple TV+. It was rated R for language and drug use and sexual content. This movie is a Drama.
This movie debuted at the “Toronto International Film Festival”, “London Film Festival”, “Newport Beach International Film Festival”, and at the “Rome Film Festival”.
Onto the premise: A US soldier suffers a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home.
I don’t know if this movie will be talked about during the Oscar season, but I thought the this movie was pretty solid.
It’s a slow examination of PTSD and the frustrating process of rehabilitation with strong performances from Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry at its core, their dynamic is what made the movie work for me even though it can be a tough watch at times considering the nature of the subject.
It’s mostly a quiet movie but it has some strong moments of emotions, especially towards the end where I felt like they did a good job making us, the audience, care about the characters. The people in this movie felt very natural and that’s just good casting and acting.
A good reminder that Jennifer Lawrence can act!
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie but I can see that it can be a bit difficult for some people therefore I would like to say, be cautious while watching this movie as it can trigger some people who are having mental health issues. Nevertheless this movie was beautifully written and acted and I just love JLaw as an actress! This movie is a slow-burner but it’s okay for a movie giving the heavy heavy subject matter!
My anticipation for this movie was so high and it was met and this movie is another amazing movie from Apple TV Plus. Therefore it was definitely “Worth A Watch”.
