Is “Weird: The AI Yankovic Story” worth a watch?

This movie was another highly anticipated one for me ever since I saw its trailers and featurettes sometime back in October, this year!

This movie starrs Daniel Radcliffe, Richard Aaron Anderson (“Shameless”), Rainn Wilson (“Solar Opposites”), Keanush Tafreshi (“Young Sheldon”), just to name a few.

This movie was directed by Eric Appel (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”).

This movie was released on November 4th 2022 on Roku. It was rated R for sexual content, violence, Frightening imagery and language.

This movie debuted at the “Toronto International Film Festival”, “Newport Beach International Film Festival”, “Beyond Fest”, just to name a few.

This movie is a Comedy/Biography/Music.

Onto the premise: Explores every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle.

An absolute riot of hilarious spoof & parody comedy about “Weird” Al Yankovic’s 100% true exciting and wildly outrageous life story. Daniel Radcliffe transcends into Al and guides us, the audience, through this heart wrenching insane, delightful story.

This movie is full of amazing performances from all cast and is packed with fun, surprising cameos. It’s been a while since a parody spoof comedy that was this well crafted, and this one delivers.

Eric Appel & Al Yankovic wrote one heck of a script that does not miss a beat, each scene carrying into the next and surprising the audience each step of the way. This film, in my opinion, deserves some kind of a theatrical run.

You’ll love the intermix of passion with the angst of the artist on a quest to find one’s roots. Accordions indeed.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie, Daniel was amazing but so were the rest of the cast! It’s crazy to me that they shot this movie in 18 days, therefore it does have some elements where it lacks, I won’t spoil it, just go and watch it you won’t be disappointed. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll laugh and cry and maybe hicup just a bit… haha
