The 95th Oscar nominations have been announced!

You guys know how excited I was for this day to come!

This afternoon, morning for you, Americans, the 95th Oscar Nominees were announced!

THIS year I’m so excited to watch it and see if my favorite movies will end up taking their awards home!

First of all, I would like to say that, I am very happy that A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At One” got 11 nominations and therefore dominated the 95th Oascars.

It is so well deserved in my opinion because THAT movie was an experience! I seen it 4 times by now and am as mesmerized as I was watching it for the first time.

The visuals…. I mean, do I have to say more to that?!

I think it’ll take home it’s nominations for “Best Picture” “Best Actress die Michelle Yeoh, this is her first Oscar nomination and that makes me so happy for her, “Best Supporting Actor” for Ke Huy Quan, who we know from “The Golden Globes” that he could take that award home!

“Everything Everywhere All At Once” was also nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” for thee legend, Jamie Lee Curtis.

I think it will win at the key categories because the whole movie was too beautiful like I said , it was an experience and more than just “sci-fi- feature movie. However it’ll be a tie for “Best Actress” because Cate Blanchett’s performance in “Tar” was too good! But so was Michelle Yeoh’s in A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once” in my opinion. We’ll see which movie will take that one home at the actual award show ceremony on March 13th 2023 in Los Angeles.

I was over the moon when I heard that “TAR” got nominations, the biggest among those “Actress In A Leading Role”, for Cate Blanchett’s outstanding performance , which is well deserved in my opinion because that movie, especially Care’s emotions in this masterpiece of a movie!

It’s another one of my wishes and predictions, which came true.. I watched that one twice and can’t and couldn’t stop thinking about it….like from the set design … to the actual story… to its editing … along with the leading actress Cate Blanchett’s performance. I’m truly glad that this movie score some nominations.

“TAR” will be stuck in my head for a long time.

In the category of “Actor In A Leading Role” I was happy to watch “The Whale”’s Brendan Fraser get his Oscar nomination, I honestly haven’t watched it yet but I don’t have to say more than it had a seven-minute-standing ovation from the crowd at “Cannes Film Festival” last year and I think this nomination speaks for itself.

But I can say that I was very surprised that “The Menu”’s and Harry Potter’s Lord Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes didn’t get nominated in this category for his very terrifying performance as chef. I personally call this as one of the snubs of this year’s Oscar nominations…. Instead of him, they nominated Austin Butler for his performance in “Elvis”, to me that movie was an okay one. But I’m very happy that Colin Farrell got a nomination for his performance in “The Banshees Of Inisherin” even though I haven’t seen it yet, I know that he did an outstanding job as the lead role in this movie. Therefore I would be very pleased to see him winning that award on March 13th 2023.

In the category of “Animated Feature Films”, I was over the moon to see that director Guillermo Del Toro keeps receiving his flowers for his version of Disney’s “Pinocchio”. Therefore I would be very pleased if he would end up winning this award.

But I would also be pleased if DreamWorks’ “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” would win the award because it was such an amazing experience of a movie. A philosophical one on top of that.

I would’ve loved to see “RRR” get a nomination for the “International Feature Film” category but Germany’s and Netflix’s “All Quiet In The Western Front” was equally as good as “RRR””.

Because I didn’t watch any movies, which were listed in the “Documentary Feature Film, I only have heard good things about “All The Beauty And The Bloodshed”, I won’t be able to voice my opinion and choose a favorite from this category.

When it comes to the category of “Cinematography” I am torn between the movie nominations for “TAR” and “All Quiet On The Western Front”. Because both movies were outstanding in regards to their cinematography. Therefore I would be happy if either one of them won the award in this category.

As for the category of “Costume Design” I was very happy to see that Paramount’s “Babylon” was nominated along with Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda forever” but along with A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once”.

I really really enjoyed all movies in this category but I would be very happy it either Black Panther” or “Babylon” or even “Everything Everywhere All At Once” brought that award home because it was such a beautiful and unique story yet great execution and an out of this world experience of a movie.

In the key categories of “Directing” my prediction about this category came true today once again, we weren’t surprised to hear the guys behind “Everything Everywhere All At Once” score a nomination. I was also very happy to see that “TAR” and “Triangle Of Sadness” both scoring a nomination in this category! Therefore I would be happy if either one of them won the award in this category.

As for the category “Film Editing”, I’m kinda torn between three nominees, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “TAR” and “TopGun:Maverick”. I would be happy if either one of these nominees would win this award.

In the category of “Makeup And Hairstyling” the nominees are:

* Germany’s “All Quiet In The Western Front”

* DC’s “The Batman”

* Marvel’s “Black Panther:Wakanda Forever”

* “Elvis”

* “The Whale”

Honestly we all knew that “The Whale” would be among the nominees for this category, the minute it debuted at the “Cannes Film Festival”! Therefore I would be very pleased if either one of the nominees would win the award.

This next category was already revealed to us and I talked about it in one of my past podcast episodes..

When it comes to the category of “Original Song” I am torn between the movies nominations for “Lift Me Up” for “Black Panther: Wakanda forever” and “This Is Life” from “Everything Everywhere All At Once”.

“Lift Me Up” marked Rihanna’s musical long awaited comeback and it really put me, along with the whole soundtrack onto a roller coaster ride of emotions because Chadwick’s death was a tough one for me. Therefore I would be happy if either one of them won the award in this category.

When it comes to the nominations for the category of “Best Visual Effects” I can say that we weren’t surprised that “Avatar:The Way Out Of Water” was among the nominees in this category and as I’ve predicted so many times now, we all know that it will definitely be a tie between Avatar and TopGun:Maverick and I would be happy with either one of them.

When it comes to the nominees in the category of “Best Music (Original Score”, I have to say that I won’t even attempt to make a prediction. We will all together see, which movie will take it home in March!

As for the category of “Best Production Design”, there’s only one answer…. “Avatar:The Way Out Of Water”. James Cameron did it again!

As for the “Best Sound” category I’d like for “TopGun:Maverick” solely for the engines of those jets and also “The Batman” solely because of the rain but also “Babylon” solely for those trumpets at those party sequences. But we already know that “All Quiet In The Western Front” will already be the winner od the night so I think “TopGun:Maverick” would really deserve a win in this category, in my opinion.

When it comes to the snubs of this year’s Oscar nominations, I’m surprised that Florence Pugh for “Don’t Worry Darling”. Or Ralph Fiennes for his terrifying performance in “The Menu”.

Another Oscar snub was Viola Davis for her performance in “The Woman King”. Along with “Till” which I really liked.

Another snub was “Woman talking” in the “best Director” category.

Another snub was director Charlotte Wells’ “AfterSun”. Along with “She Said” and “Call Jane” and “Don’t Worry Darling”.

In my opinion the biggest snub was Jordan Peele’s “Nope” with Keke Palmer.

Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya’s outstanding performances, along with the original story were sadly snubbed by the academy…

Another snub was “House of Gucci” for Jared Leto’s role in it in the “Best Costume and Hairstyling” category.

Another snub was “Fall” in the category of “Best cinematography” for me, personally.

Another very big snub was “White Noise” I really thought that Adam Driver would be nominated for one for his outstanding performance in this very difficult to describe or even label experience of a movie.

In the category of “Writing (Adapted Screenplay)” I was very very happy to see “Glass Onion” to score a nomination but it was such an amazing experience of a movie. I honestly can’t wait to watch the third installment sometime next year!

We made it to the last category of the 95th Oscar nominations, and that’s the category of “Writing (original screenplay)”, where Spielberg for “The Fabelmans” but also “TAR” but also A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once” along with “TopGun: Maverick “ could score some nominations!

Honestly I’m very surprised that there were so so so many snubs yet surprises this year!

That’s it, those are my picks and predictions for the 94th Oscars Nominations. We will talk in depth about today on Thursday’s episode of the podcast!
