Is Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones And The Six” worth a watch?

Honestly I’m a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of new tv shows and movies, which will be released in the month of March, even though I’m so stoked for it.

Nevertheless I was still very curious to watch this mini-series, which is a book adaptation!

I had not read the book but the trailer was too good not to check it out!

So this series was released on March 3rd 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. The first-three episodes out of ten.

This series stares Riley Keough (“The Terminal List”), Sebastian Chacon (“Chicago Fire”), Tom Wright (“The Locksmith”), Melissa Lehman (“Interview With The Vampire”), just to name a few.

This series was directed by James Ponsoldt (“Shrinking”). This series was rated 16+. This series is a Dramatic Musical biography picture.

Onto the premise: Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, Daisy Jones and the Six, follows the story of the iconic 1970s band, fronted by two feuding yet charismatic lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne. Drawn together by personal and artistic chemistry, their complicated musical partnership catapulted the band from obscurity to unbelievable fame. And then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they suddenly called it quits. Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. Set to the soundtrack of original music from the Daisy Jones and the Six-this is the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of its powers.

In Episode two, Daisy navigates the LA music scene with the guidance of her close friend Simone and legendary producer Teddy Price. Now in LA and with keyboardist Karen Sirko, the Dunne Brothers band experience their own challenges trying to make it.

In Episode Three, A newly-sober Billy balances music with his familial responsibility, while the band picks up the pieces in the wake of a disastrous tour. Daisy finds it far more difficult to write music when there are expectations.

In Episode Four, The Six get a taste of the life they’ve been working towards when their collaboration with Daisy becomes a hit. Rather than defuse the friction between co-songwriters, this only exacerbates it – until Camila negotiates peace. Meanwhile, Graham wrestles with whether to profess his feelings for Karen at a house party in the Canyon, knowing that a wrong move could threaten the survival of the band.

In Episode five,Fresh off their newly-acquired fame and success, Daisy Jones and The Six gear up to record their first album together. However, when Billy and Daisy prove unwilling to collaborate on each other’s material, they have no choice but to try and write something from the ground up together. This proves more challenging than either expected. Meanwhile, Karen sees a new side of Graham during a beach trip.

In Episode six, The band records their seminal album”Aurora,” the heart of which is the always complicated but typically fruitful collaboration between Billy and Daisy. As their working relationship intensifies, their personal relationship threatens to completely implode, causing Daisy to make an impulsive decision. Meanwhile, Camila harbors a secret of her own.

I’m episode seven, Simone struggles to come to terms with her identity, whilst finding her voice in the New York City disco scene. Daisy’s telegram suggests she’s in trouble. Simone decides to go and rescue her. What she finds isn’t what she expected.

In Episode eight,As the “Aurora” album tour starts, the band must come to terms with their rise to fame. Billy’s frustration worsens, whilst Daisy’s self-destructive habits turn tragic. Meanwhile, Karen and Graham’s secret is revealed.

In Episode Nine,

I’m the season finale, in episode ten,

This Amazon Prime Video mini-series is a compelling and immersive portrayal of the seduction and turmoil of rock ‘n’ roll in the 1970s.

It captures the spirit and sound of that decade with an authentic production design, costumes, makeup and music. It also features stellar performances from the cast, especially Keough, who have great chemistry and convey the complex emotions of their characters.

The series also explores themes such as artistry, creativity, fame, love, friendship, identity and feminism in a very nuanced and engaging way. I really liked that this series does not shy away from showing the dark side of the music industry or the personal demons that haunt some of the characters. I really like it when music Biopics do that!

This Amazon Prime Video series is a captivating and nostalgic tribute to 70s rock ‘n’ roll that will make you feel like you are part of their journey.

Even though this is about a fictional band, you kinda tend to forget about it while you are invested in the story and are going onto the journey along with Daisy Jones.

If you enjoyed Netflix’s “The Dirt” or Amazon Prime Video’s “Paradise City” or like a music biopics in general, you’ll love this one.
