This movie was an item on my January watchlist but I hadn’t seen it yet, until yesterday!
This movie starrs, Tim Griffin (“Next Exit”), Nia Long (“You People”), Storm Reid (“One Way”), Ken Leung (“Old”), just to name a few.
This movie was directed by Nicholas D. Johnson (“Run”).
This movie is a stand alone sequel to “Searching” 2018. . It was released on January 20th 2023. It is a Drama and Thriller.
Onto the premise: After her mother goes missing, a young woman tries to find her from home, using tools available to her online.
This movie starts with docu-drama footage based off the events of the previous film.
Missing” is an anomaly – for a January movie that had little to no marketing behind it, perhaps the most shocking thing about “Missing” is that it’s a surprisingly high-quality thriller with a focus on true unpredictability.
The story organically unfolds to slowly reveal more pertinent information to the viewer – coupled with fast-paced editing and a rapid, heart-racing soundtrack, the 1 hour and 51-minute running time flies by.. I literally found myself stressed out in the best way while watching this movie.
Honestly, I loved this movie, and I’m having trouble figuring out what more to say other than, “I loved this movie.” I’m not sure what’s going on this January, but all I have to say is that if you’re looking for an edge of your seat thriller, you found it.
Storm Reid gives a great performance, you feel her emotions, has she feels it, and we the audience, and going with her the whole way. Nia Long was also great has her mother. Great suspencful moments that keep you on the edge. Also great twists that we, the viewer , won’t see coming.
This movie won’t disappoint you. It is one of the most thrilling and awesome movies I have seen.
This movie was very entertaining and very interesting to watch. It keeps you on your toes every second. It is one of those movies where you don’t want it to end.
This movie is one of those movies with a crazy twist at the end. When you find certain things at the end, it will blow your mind.
It was so scary to see what is possible online. But I’m now well equipped if something like that happens, heaven forbid.
If you liked “Nerve” 2016, you will like this movie!
My favorite character is June Allen, portrayed by the award-winning actress, Storm Reid. Throughout the film, June proves to be persistent, resilient and steadfast. Her eagerness to solve the mystery also provides an opportunity for June to acknowledge her love for her mother. She is driven to solve this mystery by her guilt of how she mistreated her mother before she went missing. I admire June for the mindset she carries within herself; she understands the risk and consequences that come with certain decisions she makes, yet overlooks them and plays an enormous role in solving her mother’s disappearance. Storms Reid executes the role of June Alle with precision. My favorite aspect of this film is how it immerses the audience – watching this movie made me feel as if I was right there with June and at times with the kidnappers.
This film provides a very significant message, especially to younger viewers – admire, cherish and be grateful for those around you. In a split matter of seconds, you can lose someone you care about. Take the time to show you appreciate their existence every day.
Overall I really enjoyed this movie and it was definitely “worth a watch”! Storm really delivered in this movie.
