Is “Scream 6” worth a watch?

I grew up with that s franchise and I really liked its fifth installment last year.

This movie, the sixth installment, was released on March 9th 2023. It was rated R for strong bloody violence, language, drug use and gore and frightening imagery.

This movie starts Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega (Netflix’s “Wednesday”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Missing”), Mason Gooding (“Fall”), just to name a few.

This movie was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Onto the premise: Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving. According to Paramount.

This movie is a Horror/Mystery/Thriller.

Can I just start by saying how lucky we are to still be getting ‘Scream’ movies made to such a high standard.

I’m starting to wonder if it’s impossible to make a bad ‘Scream’ movie.

‘Scream 6’ was everything I wanted and more. The opening scene was incredible.

The last time they tried a bit of a twist with this, back in ‘Scream 4’, I didn’t love it. It felt a little too gimmicky for my liking.

This time though the twist worked perfectly. It’s such a great scene that sums the movie up perfectly.

A bit of build up, then more kill scenes, interspersed with some extra character development and making everyone look suspicious, all leading up to the big finale and the big reveal.

The New York setting was cool for a change and certainly gave a different vibe to all the other ‘Scream’ movies.

Killing scenes set in the likes of convenience stores and on subway trains were handled well.

Jenna was amazing I no this installment.

Some of the character decisions and logic used are as forced as they’ve ever been in this series. I think you have to go into this movie just expecting to have a great time and accept the ride for what it is. If you do you’ll likely have an amazing time with it.
