As a 90s baby, you all already know that I grew up with this game and am still playing it.
Today, when the movie came out here in Europe, I went into the movies and watched it and here’s how I found it.
So this movie was released on April 5th 2023. It starrs Anya-Taylor-Joy (“The Menu”), Chris Pine (“Guardians Of The Galaxy”), Seth Rogen (“Pam & Tommy”), Jared Leto (“WE Crashed”), Keagen-Micheal-Key (“Batman”), just to name a few.
This movie was directed by Aaron Horvath.
Onto the premise: The story of The Super Mario Bros. on their journey through the Mushroom Kingdom. A Brooklyn plumber named Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with a princess named Peach and an anthropomorphic mushroom named Toad to find Mario’s brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.
This movie is an Adventure/Animation/Comedy/Family/Fantasy/Romance/Sci-fi.
Simple story, great animation. All I wanted from a Super Mario movie was a big nostalgia hit, a fun, funny and beautiful movie, this hits all the notes I expected!! It’s amazing to be fully immersed in the Mario world. All the voice acting is on Par, Chris Pratt as mario really didn’t bother me at all.
I loved Jack Black as bowser and Anya-Taylor-Joy as Peach!
Yeah the story is simple but iv never played a mario game for it’s cutting edge story, for me they done well to fill in the movie with excitement and fun despite its weak story. It had all the parts of Mario we’ve all grown to love. It’s a great start and I really can’t wait for a Nintendo universe and a sequel to this movie!!
This movie was everything I wanted it to be! You can call it fan-service but to me, it was everything that I wanted it to be, find out more on tomorrow’s podcast episode!
