Is Prime Video‘s “Dead Ringers” the mini series worth a watch?

I know I haven’t talked to you guys in a while but I was still in the process of grieving but I’m back, if I’m not active on here, you best believe, I will be active on my social media and even the podcast “Movie Reviews With Ceren”. So check that out!

This series was another item of my “April Watchlist”.

This series is a mini-series and also a book adaptation.

This series was released on Friday, April 21st 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.

It has six episodes in its first season. It is a Drama/Thriller.

This series starrs Rachel Weisz (“Black Widow”), Poppy Liu (“ICARLY” reboot), Jennifer Ehle (“She Said”), just to name a few.

This series was directed by Karena Evans (“P-Valley”) and Karyn Kusama (“The Consultant”).

Onto the premise: The Mantle twins, identical from head to toe, are on a mission to change the way women give birth.

In Episode one,Meet the Mantle twins.

In Episode two, Rebecca and Susan Parker invite the twins upstate for a dinner and a pitch.

In Episode Three,It’s the opening party and the twins are on a high, until a shift in Beverly’s life causes Elliot to spiral.

In Episode Four, It’s the twins’ birthday and their parents are in town for a stressful celebration.

In Episode five, The twins take a trip to open Birthing Centre Number 2 and spend the evening with Susan Parker’s surprising family.

In Episode six, the season finale, The Centre is thriving, and so, on the surface is Beverly. But for how long?

Even though I didn’t read the book, I really really enjoyed this series.

This show looks great, and Rachel plays the parts extremely well. The practical effects are SOLID- lot’s of blood but I can imagine how it would be too much for some with all the graphic birth depiction. That being said- the show can be very hard to follow, since it’s all over the place, jumping from place to place sometimes even from time to time with no indication.

They are also introducing new characters all the way up to episode 5. This is problematic because the series only has six episodes in its first season!

I think it could’ve been a bit more cohesive. Yes, I do understand that is the point- it’s supposed to be disorienting and the twins are supposed to sometimes be indistinguishable, so maybe you’ll see it differently than I did.

Stay tuned for more reviews and listen to the podcast episode on Sunday!
