Onto the premise: Special Agent Will Trent was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Determined to make sure no one feels as he did, he now has the highest clearance rate.

In Episode one, Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) relies on his keen instincts and unique experience to uncover the truth when a murder investigation reveals there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

In Episode two,As the GBI continues its investigation on a missing girl, Will becomes frustrated with the suspect search; Angie is forced to evaluate her current relationships as she follows a new case with Ormewood.

In Episode Three; Will and Faith’s investigation into a small-town murder has large implications when a connection is drawn to a cold case; the death of a security guard perplexes Angie.

In Episode Four, Will and the GBI investigate a call from the state park police alongside the APD; Will makes strides in his partnership with Faith after the two share some personal secrets

In Episode five, While in the act of robbing a washed up football star, the robber fatally shoots the football players innocent girlfriend. A shady real estate agent is shot and killed in a vacant house. Both crimes need solving by Will Trent.

In Episode six, A double murder leads the unit on a chase to investigate a software firm’s activity behind closed doors. Angie does her best to ensure a key witness testifies in her case.

In Episode Seven, A missing shipment of weapons leads to extremists; Betty finds something Angie didn’t want Will to discover.

In Episode eight, Will finds out there’s more to a case that touches close to home than initially appears. Similarly, Angie and Ormewood discover several further tricks under a dead magician’s sleeve throughout their investigation.

In Episode Nine, When a convicted criminal takes one of the GBI agents hostage and is accused of murder, Will and Ormewood discover some evidence which could prove their innocence. Meanwhile, Angie struggles with sobriety when she finds out her former abuser is free.

In Episode twelve, Will and his partner Faith are tasked with investigating several cases involving serial killers.

In Episode thirteen, the season finale, When an APD agent goes missing, Will examines the crime scene and locates a secret message putting him back on the path to justice.

Still, he has a few friends. Like Betty, the homeless dog he took in. And undercover agent Angie (Erika Christensen), with whom he shares a dark history.

The tone of this drama is often noir-ish, but it never gets too dark. And the incidental music helps with its stylish atmosphere.

Trent is dyslexic, but he can read a crime scene like no one else. He carries scars and demons as a result of his checkered history, but he copes.

This police procedural is very engaging, because of both the acting and the storylines. All of the main players are fun to watch. The writing can be fast-moving, but the stories are never dull. I am hoping the series can keep its edge while simultaneously developing the main characters.

I like that the lead character has a learning disorder and does his job better than anyone else in spite of it. His partner obviously hates him for the investigation of her mother that ended her career but is forced to work with him.

I really liked the POV-sequence in episode 1.

The show is excellent. It follows a case of the week, but there are human elements that serve as a change from week to week.

I have to say, that I really enjoyed this series, and can’t wait for the second season to be honest.
